He’s been making music for more than 60 years, and despite joking that this year is his “63rd annual farewell tour,” folk musician Tom Rush has more music — and more stories — to share.
Born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, in 1941, Rush stepped on the music scene with his first album, “Got a Mind to Ramble,” in 1963. More than six decades later, his newest album came out in March: “Gardens Old, Flowers New.” Rush has been credited with helping to shape the folk music scene in the ‘60s, the folk-rock movement of the ‘70s and the folk renaissance of the ‘80s and ‘90s. His music has inspired artists like James Taylor, Emmylou Harris, Tom Petty and Garth Brooks.
