GREENFIELD —Johanna Guiod loves animals. So when she saw a small raccoon cowering on a residential Springfield street on the third day of spring, she pulled over.
Another young woman was already there at Hermitage Drive and Parker Street, trying to coax the raccoon out of traffic; she had just called animal control. Guiod, who is 21, was weeks into a job as a corrections officer at the Greenfield jail. That’s why she had special gloves handy – a pair designed to protect from “sharps.”
