The third annual NBA Cup concludes on Tuesday, Dec. 16 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas where the New York Knicks are going to battle the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Cup Championship.
This NBA game is scheduled to start at 8:30 p.m. EST and will be broadcast on Prime Video. In Victor Wembanyama’s return following a 12-game absence, the Spurs pulled off an upset over the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder, 111-109, in the NBA Cup Semifinals. Wembanyama only played seven minutes in the first half and sat out the entire first quarter to manage his time on the court due to a minutes restriction, but in just 21 minutes he had 22 points, nine rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal while being a +21 in plus-minus. De’Aaron Fox and Stephon Castle matched Wembanyama with 22 points, while Devin Vassell had a team-high 23. That starting trio also combined to shoot nine-for-21 on 3-pointers and 23-for-44 overall.
The Knicks got to this point by taking down the Orlando Magic, 132-120. Jalen Brunson poured in a game-high 40 points on 16-for-27 shooting to go with eight assists while Karl-Anthony Towns added 29 an eight boards, OG Anunoby provided 24, six rebounds, four assists three steals and a block and Josh Hart contributed 12 points, six rebounds, six assists, three steals and a block. Mikal Bridges was the only other Knick in double figures and he added 16.
These teams will face off twice in the regular season, first on New Year’s Eve in San Antonio, and then at Madison Square Garden in New York on March 1.
