A tractor-trailer rollover on Interstate 495 in Andover was causing severe delays Wednesday morning, according to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
MassDOT first alerted commuters to the crash around 4:30 a.m.
An hour later, the department said ramps connecting Interstate 93 northbound and southbound to I-495 had been closed and northbound traffic on I-495 was being diverted to I-93.
A spokesman for the department said the delays are expected to impact the morning commute.
A Mass511 map showed traffic backed up in both directions where the two highways intersect.
The overturned tractor-trailer spilled trash and oil on the road, WBZ News Radio reported.
