Council sends Westfield wetlands protection ordinance back to committee

WESTFIELD — After being tabled at the previous meeting, Councilor Richard Sullivan made a motion on July 7 to send back the Westfield wetlands protection ordinance that was approved by the City Council in the spring to the Legislative & Ordinance Committee, chaired by Councilor William Onyski, for reconsideration. The motion was later amended to first send the ordinance to the Natural Resources Committee, chaired by Councilor Kristen Mello.

“I do not make this motion lightly, understanding that a lot of people have done a lot of work on this including the L&O Committee and the Conservation Commission over a couple of years. In fact, I voted for this when it came to Council,” Sullivan said, admitting that he had not done the appropriate amount of background work on it.
