A party supply toy, sold on Amazon, is being recalled because it poses a risk of “deadly ingestion” to children, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
Around 790 SNLN Party Supply toys produced by Yiwu Dixikeji Douxiangongsi, of China, are being recalled as of July 3.
The products include three bunny ears, three cat ears, 12 party glasses, 100-piece glow bracelet, eight light-up mini flashlights, four light-up rings, six butterfly clips and a sticker book. The products are in red, blue, green, yellow and pink.
The toys were sold on Amazon from January through May of this year for about $22.
They are being recalled because the toys “violate the mandatory standard for toys containing button cell batteries because the compartment that holds the batteries can be easily accessed and opened by children, posing a deadly ingestion hazard to children,” the statement reads. “When button cell or coin batteries are swallowed, the ingested batteries can cause serious injuries, internal chemical burns and death.”
No injuries have been reported. However, customers are urged to stop using the toys and take them away from children.
To receive a full refund, customers can contact Yiwu Dixikeji Douxiangongsi and email them a photo of the product being tossed in the trash. Both the company and Amazon are contacting all known purchasers directly, according to the CPSC.
Since button cell and coin batteries are hazardous, they should be disposed of or recycled by following local hazardous waste procedures.
