ATLANTA — The Atlanta Police Department released body camera footage showing officers pulling a fleeing man from atop a fence to make an arrest.
On Oct. 9, officers responded to a residential burglary after a homeowner reported a break-in, according to police. The homeowner, who had observed the incident on surveillance footage, called 911 and described the suspect to dispatchers. The man can be seen on surveillance footage picking up a gun during the attempted burglary.
Upon arrival, officers spotted a man matching the provided description near the residence. When officers approached, video shows the suspect fled through a nearby apartment complex and attempted to climb a tall fence to evade capture.
Body-worn camera video shows officers scaling a chain link fence to continue pursuing the suspect on foot before pulling him off the tall fence he was climbing and placing him under arrest.
During the search, officers recovered the stolen firearm, which the suspect had attempted to hide under a bush, according to police. The suspect now faces several charges, including first-degree burglary, criminal trespass/damage to property, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and obstruction of law enforcement officers.
