Boy wounded in Springfield shooting

SPRINGFIELD — A boy was wounded after getting caught in the crossfire of a shooting Thursday night, sources said.

He was rushed to Baystate Medical Center by ambulance after being shot. The child, whose age was not immediately available, suffered serious injuries, said Ryan Walsh, police spokesman.

The shooting took place at about 8:30 p.m. A ShotSpotter activation pinpointed the location near the Racing Mart on the 300 block of Main Street in the Indian Orchard section of the city. Police are still at the scene sorting out information about the crime, Walsh said.
