NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A Nashville man was arrested after he was caught on dash cam video attempting to evade police by performing donuts on a highway, eventually colliding with a police vehicle, FOX 17 reported.

Metro Nashville Police stated that a 22-year-old driver was spotted after driving recklessly and above the speed limit, according to the report. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the suspect continued onto a freeway, where he began driving in circles.

Video then shows the suspect driving directly into a cruiser and colliding with it head-on. The officer driving the cruiser was injured in the incident, according to the report. He was taken to a hospital, treated and released.

The driver fled the scene on foot via an entrance ramp, according to police. Officers were able to identify him by running the license plate on his Dodge Challenger.

He now faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault on an officer, felony evading arrest, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident involving injury, according to the report. His bond is set at $27,500.

“As a first responder, I know first-hand the importance of being prepared, and this decision reflects my commitment to safety…on Election Day,” Gov. Joe Lombardo said

While the report deals broadly with “medical-behavioral emergencies,” much of the guidance can be employed during any incident where police may need to restrain a person
