Mass. weather: Will you need a jacket on Halloween? Here’s what to expect

Everybody knows a jacket ruins a Halloween costume. Luckily, many in Massachusetts won’t need one on Thursday.

After cool weather on Tuesday, followed by a bit of rain, temperatures are expected to warm up Wednesday and Thursday.

“We’ll also see a BIG warm up peaking on Halloween,” the National Weather Service posted on X.

Highs during the day on Thursday are expected to be in the upper 70s with Lowell possibly hitting 81 degrees. It’ll start to cool down again around 6 p.m. However, many cities and towns will remain in the 70s.

Boston and Lowell are expected to be 73 degrees by 6 p.m., while Worcester and Springfield are expected to be 72 degrees.

Areas on Cape Cod and the Islands are likely to be the coolest at around 62 degrees Thursday night.

Rain is expected to return Friday.

Boston and the Cape are most likely to be hit by the rain throughout the day on Friday.
