New guide available on best practices for embedding social workers in police departments

By Police1 Staff

BEVERLY, Mass. — Is your department considering hiring a social worker or looking for guidance after recently adding one to your team? The Police Assisted Addiction & Recovery Initiative (PAARI), in collaboration with the National Association of Social Workers, has released a new guide on best practices for embedding social workers within police departments. This resource draws from the experiences of embedded social workers in Jeffersontown, Kentucky.

The guide highlights how collaboration between sworn officers and trained social workers fosters a more comprehensive approach to meeting community needs and addressing larger challenges. For more information on PAARI, click here.
