Debby impacts on Mass.: High surf, rip currents linger

The Massachusetts coastline continued to see high surf and potentially dangerous rip currents Saturday as the remnants of Tropical Storm Debby moved out of the region.

Debby exited the United States on Saturday, blowing into Canada, but not before dumping torrential rain on parts of New England, New York and neighboring states, causing significant flooding in some areas.

In Massachusetts, the National Weather Service cautioned North and South Shore residents to stay alert for possible dangerous rip currents on Saturday. Meteorologists at the agency’s regional office in Norton warned that “rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water.”
