JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Newly released footage captures the moment a man pulled a gun on a Jacksonville officer, leading to an officer-involved shooting, Action News Jax reported.

Adrian Gonzales was indicted on 29 charges that accuse him of abandoning training and not confronting the shooter, even after hearing gunshots as he stood in a hallway

“It’s something to get people to talk about public safety and the police department as an example of Irvine’s sustainability goals,” City Councilmember Tammy Kim said

The monitoring team graded the quality of the department’s misconduct investigations, finding 72% to be of very good or excellent quality, compared with 23% six years ago

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office released the video in a critical incident briefing on July 23, according to the report. The incident occurred on July 17 when Officer J.D. Collier approached a suspect’s vehicle during a stop and noticed a gun in the passenger seat.

Body camera footage shows Collier asking the suspect to sit down. The interaction escalated when the suspect, holding a cellphone and walking a dog, refused to comply. As the suspect attempted to put his dog away, Collier repeatedly instructed him to stop.

While insisting on trying to put his dog into the truck, the man opened the door. Collier then grabbed the man’s arm. The suspect resisted aggressively before turning around and pointing a handgun at Collier.

Collier then fired several shots, bringing the suspect to the ground.

The suspect, who was wanted for armed robbery in Lake County, Florida, and a person of interest in a Vermont murder, is currently in critical condition, according to the report. Eight long guns, drugs and ammunition were also found in the suspect’s truck.
