The officers found the suspect in an altercation with several other people. As they approached, the suspect began to chase another person with a knife.
Video shows the officers ordering the suspect to drop his knife. Instead, the suspect moved toward Arcega.
Arcega then deployed a TASER, which was ineffective on the suspect. The suspect then raised the knife and swung it at Arcega.
Another officer then fired one shot, bringing the suspect to the ground.
The suspect was then transported to a hospital, where he was treated for his injuries. He has since been charged with attempted aggravated assault on a police officer, attempted assault in the first degree and menacing a police officer, according to the release.
