The Atlanta Hawks drafted 19-year-old Zaccharie Risacher from France as the No. 1 overall draft pick in the 2024 NBA Draft on Wednesday, June 26.
The first round of the draft has kicked off with the Hawks taking the first pick. Zaccharie Risacher is a forward who was born in Spain and is coming off a breakout season in France. Fans can pre-order his jersey online at Fanatics now. The jersey is priced at $79.99 and will be shipped two to three weeks after the number is officially confirmed by the NBA. Confirmation will take place ahead of this year’s NBA regular season.

The 19-year-old Risacher impressed the Hawks as a catch-and-shoot scorer with an ideal size for a wing. The 6-foot-9, 215-pound Risacher joins guards Trae Young and Dejounte Murray and forward Jalen Johnson as foundation players for a team that has not won a playoff series since advancing to the 2021 Eastern Conference finals. Hawks general manager Landry Fields took advantage of the franchise’s first opportunity to take the No. 1 overall pick since 1975.
Atlanta passed on another French star, 7-footer Alex Sarr, who had been projected by many to be the top selection, but was selected No. 2 by the Washington Wizards. Among other options for Atlanta at No. 1 were UConn’s Donovan Clingan, who could have been the team’s center of the future, and Kentucky guard Reed Sheppard.
The Phoenix Suns and Philadelphia 76ers have each lost a second-round pick due to a league penalty, meaning that there will be 58 selections made rather than the usual 60. Below is a full list of the draft order:
