* Although they were teammates for a while during their playing days in Boston, Alex Cora and Craig Breslow didn’t have much history together when Breslow was hired as the Red Sox’ chief baseball officer last October. Breslow inherited Cora as ownership mandated his retention as manager for anyone taking the CBO position.
Now, here it is some eight months later, and Breslow and Cora have gotten time to know one another far better. No contract extension talks with Cora have been held but then, none were expected either. It was clear that Breslow wanted some time to evaluate Cora on the job and to establish a working relationship with him.
