FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — Dash camera footage released by the Virginia State Police shows the moment a trooper was struck by her own cruiser when it was rammed from behind, WDBJ reported.

The June 11 incident occurred when an officer, identified as Trooper Aziz, stopped a suspected drunk driver, according to the report. Aziz can be seen in the video speaking with the driver while the car was parked between the two right lanes.

The video then shows the cruiser suddenly launch forward, knocking Aziz to the ground. The cruiser had been struck from behind by another suspected to be driving under the influence, according to the report.

“(Aziz) amazingly didn’t end up with any broken bones, but she still has a long road to recovery,” VSP said in a Facebook post.

Both the driver that struck the cruiser and the stopped driver were arrested, according to the report.
