LINCOLN PARISH, La. — A Dubach Police Department officer has died after being struck by a vehicle, according to a news release from the Louisiana State Police.
Officer Russell Croxton was conducting a crash investigation when he was struck by a commercial truck, according to the release. He was taken to a hospital where he died.
It is unclear why the truck driver failed to yield to Croxton’s marked patrol car where it was stopped, according to state police. Impairment is not suspected. Neither the truck driver nor the driver of the other vehicle hit by the truck were injured.
Croxton’s father, Sergeant Raymond Croxton, was also killed in the line of duty, according to the Officer Down Memorial Page. On May 23, 1978, Raymond Croxton was killed in a crash during a vehicle pursuit while serving with the Ruston Police Department.
