CLEVELAND — When Chase Anderson takes the mound for the Red Sox to start Thursday’s game in Cleveland, he’ll be the ninth different Red Sox pitcher to make a start in the club’s first 25 games.
That’s not exactly how the Red Sox envisioned things going when they arrived in Fort Myers for the start of spring training. But it’s the reality of losing one pitcher for the season (Lucas Giolito) during spring training and three others to more minor injuries (Nick Pivetta, Garrett Whitlock and Brayan Bello) in the season’s first month.
