A “scared, cold, and rain-soaked” stray cat was discovered in the parking lot at a busy shopping center in Dedham over the weekend, prompting a rescue effort by the Animal Rescue League of Boston to secure the cat and nurse it back to health.
The cat, now named Oskar, was spotted hiding under a car by a shopper at the Legacy Place mall, who attempted to lure the feline out from under the vehicle with a can of tuna. While the cat sniffed the food, it would not budge from its hiding spot, the ARL said in a statement Wednesday morning. Once the ARL arrived at the parking lot, Field Services agents also attempted to lure the cat with food but could not get it to come out.
