The Professional Women’s Hockey League saw two trades happen Monday, and one included Boston’s franchise.
Forward Lexie Adzija and and the rights to forward Caitrin Lonergan were traded to Boston from PWHL Ottawa for Shiann Darkangelo.
Adzija signed a one-year contract after being drafted by Ottawa in the 11th round of the inaugural PWHL draft in September. A Quinnipiac University alumna, Adzija has five goals and three assists in 17 games this season. Lonergan, a Roslindale, Mass. native, was drafted in the 14th round but never signed with Ottawa. She spent last season in the Premier Hockey Federation with the Connecticut Whale where she tallied 18 points across 23 games.

Darkangelo is coming off her most productive professional season. Before being drafted by Boston in the 12th round of the draft, the forward amassed 25 points in 24 games for the PHF’s Toronto Six en route to their first (and only) Isobel Cup championship before the PWHL bought out the PHF.
Boston and Ottawa are fourth and fifth in the PWHL standings, respectively. Boston has 22 points, while Ottawa has 21 with seven games remaining. The top four teams will make it to the playoffs, with the one-seed choosing who its first-round opponent will be between the third- and-fourth place team.
Ottawa’s next game is Wednesday against PWHL New York, while Boston takes on PWHL Toronto on the same day.
