LOS ANGELES — A veteran LAPD officer connects with his community by regularly singing and performing in uniform, FOX 11 reported.
Detective Chris Reza grew up in Los Angeles and “knows what it’s like to have crime at the foot of your doorstep,” he told FOX 11.
He comes from a long line of law enforcement officers and has served in the LAPD for 20 years, according to the report. Like his mother, he is also a mariachi singer.
Reza initially kept the distinction between his two jobs, according to the report. Now, he performs in uniform to connect his work in law enforcement with the culture of the community he serves.
“This is what my voice is for,” Reza told FOX 11.
Reza has participated in more than 40 mariachi performances in the past year, he told FOX 11.
