Believe it or not, Halloween is already right around the corner, and trick-or-treaters are gearing up to take to the streets to bring home the candy.
Although the weather on Tuesday, Oct. 31, is expected to be rather cold, it will be preceded by a whiplash in weather conditions.
Friday and Saturday are expected to be rather warm across Massachusetts, with temperatures ranging across the 70s, the National Weather Service said. Guidance models suggest a chance for temperatures even going into the low 80s, especially along the Interstate 95 corridor.
This changes Saturday night as “temperatures take a dive off the deep end,” forecasters said. Temperatures should drop 30 degrees, diving into the 40s by Sunday morning. This is due to a cold front passing through the region.
As well, forecasters anticipate a 50% or lower chance of rain across parts of the state. Accumulation levels are expected to be around half an inch. Temperatures from Boston, Worcester to Springfield are all expected to hover around the mid-50s, with high chances for rain in each city, according to The Weather Channel.
On Monday, temperatures should inch a few degrees with less rain, accumulating somewhere around a quarter of an inch of rain.
Now for Tuesday, Halloween, clouds and cooler conditions will continue despite some sunshine. The Weather Channel anticipates temperatures in the high 40s on Oct. 31, with Springfield on track to reach as high as 50 degrees. Winds won’t be high, and they should stay level going into the evening.
By Tuesday night, temperatures should see between a minimal or a substantial drop from daytime highs. Boston is expected to go from 49 degrees to 42 degrees, Worcester should see a 10-degree drop down to 38 degrees after sunset, and Springfield is expected to go from 50 degrees during the day to 35 degrees in the evening.
Simply put, make sure those costumes are well insulated in anticipation for a cold Halloween. But maybe not like Jerry Seinfeld’s Superman costume with the winter coat…
