Mass. native advances as a semifinalist on ‘Celebrity Jeopardy!’

A Massachusetts native is making headway on “Celebrity Jeopardy!,” advancing as a semifinalist.

Katie Nolan, a sports comedy host originally from Framingham, took the leap over her fellow celebrity contestants on Wednesday’s game. She played alongside Sherri Shepherd and Christopher Meloni.

During Wednesday’s episode, Nolan earned 12 correct answers out of 15 before the first commercial break to jump ahead to a big lead over her two opponents. The 12 answers earned her a total of $3,300.

Her lead continued with another six correct questions answered with a daily double in double jeopardy.

After the triple jeopardy round, Nolan had answered 36 questions correctly and missed five. She then went into the final with earnings of $14,100.

But it was sudden death in the final round of Wednesday’s game as Nolan and Meloni both answered correctly, tying up the game. They both then headed to a nail-biting tie-breaker.

The first contestant to buzz in with the correct question would be declared the winner, with no cash value for the tie-breaker clue.

The clue — “Drink up! A famous New Orleans street is named after this dynasty that ruled France for most of the 17th & 18th centuries.”

Nolan buzzed in first with the winning answer of “What is Bourbon” and was deemed a semifinalist.

Nolan is playing for the Association for Women in Sports Media as contestants winnings in the tournaments are donated to a charity of their choice.

Six quarterfinalist games will still have to take place before the schedule for the semifinals is announced. But Nolan will be competing alongside other semifinalist celebrity players Utkarsh Ambudkar and Lisa Ann Walter.

If you can’t watch the series live on ABC, you can head to Hulu for streaming. You can watch the show on Hulu and get up to one month free or bundle with ESPN+ and Disney+.
