86-year-old bicyclist dies after being hit by car in Quincy

An 86-year-old bicyclist died after being hit by a car in Quincy on Friday, police said.

Authorities received several 911 calls about the bicyclist, who was later identified as Wu, Li Dain, being struck by the car near 479 Southern Artery in the city shortly after 11:15 a.m. Friday, according to a statement from the Quincy Police Department.

Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and located the man, who had suffered serious injuries. Quincy Fire Department units and EMS gave him medical aid and took him to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, where he was later pronounced dead, the statement said.

The driver of the car who allegedly hit the man remained at the scene of the fatal crash. No criminal charges had been filed as of Saturday, according the statement.

The crash remains under investigation by Quincy police and the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office. Anyone with information about the fatal crash can call Quincy police at (617) 745-5824.
