82-year-old man missing since Sept. found dead in Southborough, police say

An 82-year-old man from Warren who was missing for more than a month was found dead in Southborough on Monday morning, according to Massachusetts State Police.

Gary Lyons was found facedown in a small pond in an overgrown area at the former Stonybrook Golf Course on Oct. 16, police said.

Landscapers found his body after they saw a car parked there and realized it was the same one they had seen when they last worked at the course on Oct. 2,, according to police. The course has been closed for years.

Lyons was last seen visiting a friend in Monson on Sept. 14. The 82-year-old was reported missing the next day and a Silver Alert was issued on Sept. 16, according to state police.

Foul play is not suspected and the investigation is being conducted by Southborough police said state police detectives assigned to the district attorney’s office.
