An 8-year-old boy died Wednesday afternoon after being pulled from the waters of a pond in Clinton, according to police.
Officers responded to Clinton Housing Authority’s Harborview Apartments on Lakeside Avenue around 2:30 p.m., Clinton police said in a statement Wednesday night. The boy was found unresponsive in a nearby body of water a short time later.
Paramedics took him to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead, police said. Clinton police and the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office are still investigating how the boy died.
The closest pond to the apartment complex is Mossy Pond, but South Meadow Pond, Coachlace Pond and the Wachusett Reservoir are located nearby as well.
