7 children arrested after refusing to leave McDonald’s, crowding police

Seven children were arrested Wednesday afternoon after refusing to leave a McDonald’s in Fall River.

The Fall River Police Department said they were originally called to CVS at 1620 President Ave. because a large group of children were causing a disturbance. However, they had moved into a McDonald’s by the time police got there.

Still, police went inside to make sure there were no additional issues.

“While inside, officers were informed by the management staff that the juveniles were not welcome to remain within the establishment due to the fighting behavior which had taken place prior to them entering the business,” police said.

Police said they then got “confrontational” with officers and refused to leave. Police then attempted to arrest them for trespassing.

The group began “crowding” the officers and “attempting to interject themselves.” Seven of the children were arrested.

Police did not release the names or specific ages of any of the group members. They expect more information to be released Thursday, including body camera footage.

There will be an increased presence of police in the area Thursday “to ensure no issues arise.”
