47-year-old man stabbed dead after fight breaks out at Mass. home, DA says

A 47-year-old man was stabbed to death following a fight that occurred at a Melrose home Friday night, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office.

Police were called for a reported disturbance at a home on Ledge Street shortly after 7 p.m. on Oct. 27, the office said. When they arrived, officers found a unresponsive man, suffering from stab wounds. He was later identified as James Percent, of Melrose. Percent was brought to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators believe that Percent got into a fight with a woman at the house when, at some point, a 21-year-old man who also lived in the home got involved, according to the office. Both men were stabbed during the fight.

The second man was also hospitalized for his injuries, the office said. His name was not released.

The incident remains under investigation by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office and Melrose Police.
