A 3-year-old child died Sunday afternoon on Cape Cod after they were hit by a vehicle in Sandwich.
The fatal crash happened at around 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 7, in the area of Service Road between Quaker Meeting House Road and Chase Road in East Sandwich, according to the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office.
First responders found a 3-year-old child at the scene who was seriously hurt. The young child was brought to a nearby hospital and later died from their injuries.
The driver who struck the child stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the police department’s investigation. No further information was immediately available.
The district attorney’s office extended its condolences to the child’s family and loves ones.
