3 Mass. residents arrested after police chase involving stolen car, officials say (video)

Three Massachusetts residents were arrested and charged Wednesday after Massachusetts State Police said they tried to stop a stolen car but were led on a chase.

Around 3 p.m. Wednesday, Troopers attempted to stop a car that had been reported as stolen. The car fled and merged on to Route 79, according to police. Troopers followed the car but stopped when it exited the highway for local roads.

Police shared video of the pursuit. In the video, the car can be seen speeding and weaving in and out of traffic.

A Massachusetts State Police Air Wing flight crew located the car on Route 24 and saw as it exited in Berkley. Police said the car turned onto a loop subdivision in Berkley and Berkley police officers blocked both exits. The video shows two men and a woman getting out of the car and running through trees behind a house.

Officials said the three were arrested “within a few minutes.”

The driver, Kobe West, 19, of Fall River did not have a valid driver’s license. He was also wanted on five outstanding warrants for his arrest, according to police.

Alexia Springer, 21, of Fall River, and Lijah Fortes, 27, of Fall River, were charged with receiving stolen motor vehicle. West is charged with receiving stolen motor vehicle; operating a motor vehicle with a revoked driver’s license; reckless operation of a motor vehicle; failure to stop for police; marked lanes violation; and speeding.
