3 car chases, 1 death; Mass. cop’s record costs him his job

A sergeant in Berkshire County was brought into his police chief’s office on March 22 and reprimanded after he drove into the neighboring city of Pittsfield and drove at nearly 100 mph in an attempt to stop a car.

Dalton Chief of Police Deanna Strout told Sgt. Bustin Buzzella that while she understood his desire to identify the driver, who had earlier blown a red light and crashed into a car before fleeing, she felt Buzzella had pursued the vehicle at an unsafe speed.
