
A 26-year-old Braintree man has been identified as the victim of a fiery crash in Brockton early Friday morning.
Shane Spillane was named as the man killed Nov. 14, according to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.
Spillane had been in a 2019 Infiniti Q50 with several other people at around 1:30 a.m. on Friday when the car struck a white box truck at Centre Street and Quincy Street in Brockton.
Surveillance footage showed the Infiniti driving on Centre Street and the truck on Quincy Street when they collided at the center of the intersection the intersection, the office said. The Infiniti hit the box truck’s driver’s side door, causing the truck to roll on its side.
The car became engulfed in flames and all of its occupants were trapped inside, while the box truck flipped onto its driver’s side, the office said. Several people were brought to the hospital from both vehicles.
Spillane was pronounced dead at Boston Medical Center South in Brockton after the crash, the office said.
The district attorney’s office noted that the traffic lights at the intersection were functioning at the time of the crash and the roadway was well-lit.
The investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing, conducted by state troopers.
