2 Powerball players in Mass. win $50,000 during $1.765 billion drawing Wednesday

Two lottery players who bought their Powerball tickets in Massachusetts for Wednesday night’s historical jackpot drawing won $50,000 each, the Massachusetts State Lottery announced.

The winning Powerball numbers for the drawing on Oct. 11, were 22, 24, 40, 52, 64 and Powerball: 10.

The $1.765 billion jackpot, which was the second-highest Powerball and U.S. lottery jackpot in history and had an estimated cash value of $774.1 million, was won on a single ticket in California. That winning ticket matched all six numbers drawn.

In Massachusetts, the two $50,000 winners matched the first four numbers drawn and the Powerball number on their tickets.

One bought their winning ticket in Waltham, from a gas station called Waltham Fuel. The other winner purchased their ticket in Plymouth from a package store called Manomet Liquors.

So far, in October this year, there have been at least 22 Powerball winners in Massachusetts, with two winning $1 million prizes in the drawing on Saturday, Oct. 7.

Overall, there were at least 598 lottery prizes worth $600 or more won or claimed in Massachusetts on Wednesday, including 12 in Springfield and 18 in Worcester.

The Massachusetts State Lottery releases a full list of all the winning tickets each day. The list only includes winning tickets worth more than $600.

The two largest lottery prizes won in the state of Massachusetts so far in 2023 were $33 million and $31 million Mega Millions jackpot prizes. The tickets were each sold a week apart.

The $33 million ticket for the Tuesday, Jan. 24 drawing was purchased from a Stop & Shop in Belchertown. The winner came forward to claim the prize on March 1 through the Skylark Group Trust.

The $31 million Mega Millions jackpot ticket was won on Jan. 31. The winning ticket was bought in Woburn from a Gibbs gas station, and the winner claimed the prize on March 8 through S & L Trust.
