Two hikers had to be tracked down after getting lost on a Western Massachusetts trail.
The hikers were on Sanderson Brook Falls, which is in Chester-Blandford State Forest. Hikes in the area range from an easy stroll to pushing yourself with a challenging hike. It is known for having a 60-foot waterfall.
Rain was headed to the area when the hikers realized they were lost, the Chester Volunteer Fire Department wrote on Facebook.
The fire department, along with state and local police, used cell phone tracking software to find the two lost hikers before the rain started.
“If you do get lost while in the woods, be sure to stay in one place,” the fire department wrote. “It makes it easier for rescuers to find you. We can use your cell phone gps signal to locate you.”
