1st winning $1M Mass. lotto ticket sold in this $5 winter-themed game

A lottery player in Massachusetts claimed the first $1 million prize in a winter-themed scratch ticket game that costs $5 per ticket to play.

The $1 million prize was from “$1,000,000 Winter Winnings,” a game released on Oct. 14.

There are still two $1 million prizes remaining in the game as of Dec. 12. The winter-themed scratch ticket features a snowman, snowflakes and gift boxes all surrounded by a red, blue and silver color way.

The winning $1 million ticket was sold in Woburn at a store called Colonial Liquors.

Additionally, someone claimed a $250,000 prize from the “$250,000 Winter Winnings” scratch ticket game. That winning ticket was sold at a Shell gas station in Auburn.

A total of 11 top prizes have been claimed in the $20 game since its release on Oct. 14, leaving 28 to be claimed as of Dec. 12.

Overall, at least 464 prizes worth $600 or more were won or claimed in Massachusetts on Thursday, including 13 in Springfield, 22 in Worcester and 35 in Boston.

The Massachusetts State Lottery releases a full list of winning tickets every day. The list only includes winning tickets worth more than $600.

The largest lottery prize won so far this year was worth $1 million a year for life, from a winning “Lifetime Millions” scratch ticket sold in Springfield and claimed in July.
