A 19-year-old man was arrested near the South Bay Mall in Boston Wednesday morning in connection with the shooting of a teenager late last month, police said.
Isaac Gonzalez, of Brighton, was taken into police custody around 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, near 25 Jan Karski Way in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood.
The incident that led to Gonzalez’s arrest happened at around 6:56 p.m. on July 30. Police responded to a radio call for a person shot near 835 Huntington Ave. in Roxbury. There, they found a 15-year-old boy with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Investigators determined the shooting had taken place at 10 New Whitney St., roughly 100 feet away from where the boy was found.
“Detectives processed the crime scene, gathered evidence, and conducted an extensive follow-up investigation,” police wrote. Gonzalez was eventually identified as a suspect and a warrant for his arrest was issued out of Boston Municipal Court in West Roxbury.
Court records show Gonzalez is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury; assault and battery with a firearm; a firearm violation with three prior violent/drug crimes; possession of a firearm in commission of a felony; carrying a loaded firearm without a license; discharging a firearm within 100 feet of a building; possession of ammunition without an FID card and possesion of a firearm without an FID card, subsequent offense.
No arraignment has been set.
