Wrongful death lawsuit filed against man accused of killing Chicopee woman

CHICOPEE — The criminal case of Jason Chapdelaine, who is facing a murder charge for allegedly stabbing to death his girlfriend Eileen Monaghan in April, is ongoing. He is now also facing a civil case.

Monaghan’s estate filed a wrongful death suit against Chapdelaine in June. The complaint also named the Chicopee Contributory Retirement Board, which is named as a defendant only in a claim to allow funds in Chapdelaine’s city retirement account to go toward a judgment if there is one. Last week, the board filed a motion to dismiss the case.
