Write-in candidate sees Whip City Fiber expansion as WG&E’s biggest issue

WESTFIELD — Kenneth McLean is challenging Planning Board member Robert Goyette in next week’s special election for Ward 5 Municipal Light Board representative, as a write-in candidate.

“I was encouraged to run as a write-in because the special election only had one candidate,” he said. “What I wanted to do was give the Ward 5 voters a choice.”

A general manager for the maritime systems division of Raytheon, McLean said he graduated from Harvard University with a master’s degree in government and political economics. Before that, he said he received degrees from Western New England University in marketing and engineering.
