Will it rain on Fourth of July in Massachusetts? Here’s what we know

Some Fourth of July celebrations have already been dampened by rain, rescheduling firework shows in some cities and towns across Massachusetts. So, what does the Independence Day forecast look like?

There is a chance of rain on Thursday afternoon and evening for a majority of the state, the National Weather Service said. However, it’s a 20-30% chance. There is also a chance of thunderstorms in the Berkshires Thursday afternoon.

Most of the day is expected to be partly sunny with a high near 87 degrees.

Rain isn’t expected on Cape Cod until the early morning hours on Friday. The Fourth of July for this area is expected to be partly sunny with a high near 79 degrees.

In May, the long-range weather prediction for Farmers’ Almanac said Fourth of July weekend is expected to be “generally pleasant” with fair skies. This includes July 4-7.

It is the only few days the Farmers’ Almanac isn’t predicting rain in July.
