Wildlife illegally taken from Maine to Massachusetts, officials say

Wildlife was illegally taken from Maine and brought to Massachusetts, according to the Massachusetts Environmental Police.

After several months of investigating, officials were able to issue two counts of transport of illegally obtained game from outside the Commonwealth. Officials did not release the names of anyone involved.

Two search warrants and two different locations had been issued. The Massachusetts Environmental Police worked with Maine Warden Service and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on the search warrants.

“The multi-state investigation involved illegally taken wildlife in the State of Maine that had been transported into the Commonwealth,” police said on Facebook. “The investigation spanned several months and resulted in a probable cause determination and the issuance of the search warrants”

Officials found a moose skull and antlers and over 150 packages of wild game meat.

The Maine Warden Service also served multiple summons for numerous violations of their Title 12 Statutes (Fish and Game violations) to the people involved.
