The 2026 FIFA World Cup draw took place on Friday afternoon in Washington, D.C., which sorted out the 48-team field into groups before the biggest soccer tournament on the planet arrives to North America in June.

The United States was placed in Group D alongside Paraguay, Australia, and the winner of a UEFA playoff that includes Turkey, Slovakia, Kosovo, and Romania. The Americans will open their World Cup campaign on June 12, 2026, at Los Angeles Stadium.

Fans can already start shopping for tickets at StubHub, SeatGeek and VividSeats to get the best prices or best seats at any of the venues. Although the match details aren’t confirmed, the venues and dates are.

Host nations Mexico and Canada anchor Groups A and B, respectively. Mexico will face South Africa, South Korea, and a UEFA playoff winner, while Canada was grouped with Switzerland, Qatar, and another UEFA playoff team.

Traditional powerhouses received varied draws. Brazil landed in Group C with Morocco, Haiti, and Scotland. Argentina, the defending champions, will open against Algeria in Group J, which also includes Austria and Jordan. France heads Group I with Senegal, Norway, and a FIFA playoff winner, while England was placed in Group L with Croatia, Ghana, and Panama.

The tournament will open on June 11, 2026, in Mexico City with a Group A match. “Boston Stadium” (Gillette Stadium) will host its first match on June 13 when Group C takes the field, and will continue to host games throughout the group stage and into the knockout rounds.

The expanded 48-team format includes a new round of 32 stage before advancing to the traditional round of 16. The semifinals are scheduled for Dallas Stadium on July 14 and Atlanta Stadium on July 15. The championship match will take place July 19, 2026, at New York New Jersey Stadium.

The tournament will utilize 16 venues across the three host countries, including stadiums in cities such as Miami, Philadelphia, Houston, Seattle, Kansas City, and Toronto. Game times and specific matchup locations for the group stage will be announced Saturday evening.

Several groups still await final team determinations through UEFA and FIFA playoff matches, which will determine the remaining participants in Groups A, B, D, F, I, and K.
