On Sunday, millions of Americans will celebrate Easter Sunday, a holiday that recognizes the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Unlike other holidays like Halloween, Christmas or Valentine’s Day, Easter Sunday is a “moveable feast,” meaning the dates of the holiday change every year, according to CountryLiving.com.
Easter falls on the first Sunday after the full moon that occurs on or after the spring equinox, CountryLiving reported. This means that the holiday can fall anywhere between March 22 to April 25.
A full moon fell on March 25 this year, according to Space.com.
This means Easter Sunday will be celebrated on March 31. The next time Easter Sunday will fall on March 31 will be 2086, according to USA Today.
Last year, Easter was celebrated on April 9, USA Today reported.
