Those planning to do any last-minute shopping or mailing will most likely be out of luck if they try to do it on Monday. Most retail stores and offices are closed on Dec. 25 to let employees spend time with their families.
Still, some retail locations and transportation services will be open to the public, though hours may vary. Here’s what you can expect to be open and closed on Christmas.

MBTA:
- All subways, buses and The RIDE will operate on a Sunday schedule.
- The Commuter Rail will operate on a weekend schedule.
- There will be no ferry service on Christmas.
