WESTFIELD — The Westfield Theatre Group’s spring musical starts this Friday and Saturday, March 28 and 29, the first of a three-weekend run. “Disaster! A 70’s Disaster Movie… Musical!,” written by Seth Rudetsky and Jack Plotnick — concept created by Seth Rudetsky and Drew Geraci with additional materials by Drew Geraci, is based on 70’s disaster movies, with references in scenes to “Jaws,” “The Poseidon Adventure,” “Towering Inferno,” earthquakes and piranhas.
The show, which first debuted in New York City in 2011, takes place on a floating casino named “The Barracuda” on its grand opening. Owner Tony DelVecchio, played by Owen Snyder, wants it to be a great night, and chaos ensues.
