Westfield schools announce horticulture grant, superintendent evaluation

WESTFIELD — The School Committee met on the last day of the school year last week, ending the year with the superintendent’s evaluation and the announcement of a new grant.

Grants manager Joanne Lemelin said the Westfield Technical Academy horticulture program has received $141,260 from a MassSkills Capital Grant to purchase two hoisting equipment simulators.

The grant was part of nearly $15 million in Skills Capital Grants awarded by the Gov. Maura Healey administration to 65 high schools, colleges and educational institutions to upgrade technology and instructional lab spaces, expand career programs for young people and adults, and increase capacity in workforce training programs across Massachusetts.
