SPRINGFIELD — A Westfield man convicted last week of first-degree murder for stabbing his girlfriend to death in 2019 was sentenced on Tuesday to life in prison without the possible of parole in Hampden Superior Court, according to a statement issued by the office of Hampden County District Attorney Anthony Gulluni.
Blake Scanlon was 23 when he called 911 on Jan. 13, 2019, to report he was bleeding out.
When police arrived, they found his girlfriend, Alexis Avery, 20 at the time, lying dead on the kitchen floor with 28 stab wounds in the apartment they shared with their child.
