Westfield businesses cited for underage tobacco sales receive suspensions, fines

WESTFIELD — Out of the nine Westfield tobacco vendors that failed a September compliance check for selling tobacco products to underaged buyers, only Smoke and Vape Shop tried to argue it didn’t deserve punishment at the Board of Health’s meeting Wednesday night.

“I checked the tapes from 11:25 a.m. all the way down to 12:25 p.m. and I did not find a single customer that looked under the age of 40 come inside the store, buying a pack of Zyns [nicotine pouches]. The incident was reported to be at 11:50 a.m.,” said store manager Hunan Mian at the Oct. 16 meeting.
