A Springfield man is due to appear in court on Monday in connection with a fatal shooting that took place on Wednesday, Springfield police announced on Friday.
Erving McLeod, 68, was charged with murder, carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, firearm-armed robbery and default warrant, Springfield police wrote in a statement.
Massachusetts State Police and the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit arrested McLeod near the intersection of Knox Street and Mill Street at around 9:45 a.m. on Friday, police said.
