Weekend ice, snow: Here’s where you don’t want to be driving in Mass.

Winter weather on the first weekend of spring will likely complicate travel plans Friday night into Saturday.

While snow totals will likely be modest across the state — most can expect less than an inch, with some regions getting up to 4 inches in the northwest corner of the state — road conditions will be poor across a wide swath of the Bay State.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory covering all of Western Massachusetts and most of Central Massachusetts.

Light snow and ice accumulation is expected with slippery road conditions throughout the area of the advisory, according to the National Weather Service.

“Initially, minor snowfall is possible due to cold air, but the bigger worry is freezing rain and ice accumulation, creating hazardous travel conditions from late tonight through late Saturday morning,” the National Weather Service wrote in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Friday.

The National Weather Service advises to stay off of the roads in Western Massachusetts and northern Worcester County during that time period.
